Honey Creek State Park

Our recent visit to Honey Creek State Park left us captivated by its natural beauty and abundance of outdoor activities. This park truly offers something for everyone, from breathtaking hiking trails to serene picnic spots and convenient camping facilities. Our day began with an invigorating hike, accompanied by our faithful four-legged companion. The trails were well-maintained and showcased the park's diverse ecosystems, providing us with a perfect blend of tranquility and adventure. After a refreshing morning hike, we found ourselves drawn to the park's enchanting lake. The lake access was abundant, allowing us to find a peaceful spot to relax and soak in the picturesque surroundings. The gentle lapping of the water and the soothing sounds of nature created a serene atmosphere, making it the ideal place to unwind. We appreciated the park's dog-friendly policies, which allowed us to enjoy the company of our furry friend throughout our visit. The policy is to keep your dog on a leash and pick up after them. Overall, Honey Creek State Park offers a nature lover's paradise, with its well-marked hiking trails, peaceful picnic areas, and ample lake access. The park's dog-friendly atmosphere and scenic beauty made our day truly memorable. If you're seeking a place to connect with nature, hike with your furry friend, and bask in the tranquility of a lake, this park is definitely worth a visit.

Loved coming here for years but not so sure anymore because of the new management. There are literally 5 people camping here so we parked the boat/trailer in the campsite next to us in order to charge the trolling batteries. The new management forced us to pay $16 dollars a night extra because that's not allowed. Once again there are 5 campers here out of atleast 100 open spots, talk about extortion.

We had a great time exploring from the car. We have been touring Iowa and her State Parks this year. We will be back to the cabins or the resort here soon. Would like to get some fishing done here and there looks to be a lot of choices for boats ramps and shore fishing alike. The shelters were all well kept and the fall foliage was breath taking. We took a short drive through the camp grounds and they looked very nice as well. Not far off the beaten path and there are hiking trails and things to explore that I plan to come back and see.

A great campground with multiple points for lake access. There are mutiple loops for a more private tenting campsite, but there are also RV sites that are thriving with activity. I reserved online and the campsite was ready to go when I arrived. Very reasonable check-in and check-out times. Great place for the earlybirds as I found an excellent point on the water to watch the sunrise.
